Today was simply a WONDERFUL day for us! We managed to grocery shop then come home and have BOTH girls take a nice, long nap. Of course, we knew we were headed to a Memphis Redbirds baseball game (St. Louis Cardinals minor league team) this evening so it was relatively easy to get them to nap). The girls had a blast at the game. Our seats were right behind home plate, a couple rows up. We were amidst all sorts of the opposing team's family and even two of their starting pitchers sat in front of us clocking pitch speeds. They were not playing tonight. That was kind of cool!
We ate McDonald's in the car on the drive to the stadium, to avoid spending almost 40 bucks for dinner alone at the stadium. We went in with the reserve to only get a drink and peanuts...which we accomplished! I saw one of my band students and one of my staff members as well as 2 fellow band directors! Guess the game tonight was a place for band nerds to go hang out! ANYWAYS, the girls had a good time. So much to see, the weather was perfect! The girls both can shell their own peanuts (whew) and Dave and I did not have to spend the whole game keeping them occupied or out of trouble. They behaved great. At one point though, the lady behind Libbi proceeded to spill an entire cup of orange Slice on her. My Libbi was cold, wet and orange. Luckily, those "gray team" follows were so nice and gracious and handed us towels and helped me console and clean my poor child. Daddy then went and bought her a Redbird's tshirt to change into, so all was good. The highlight of the evening was the post game fireworks. They were actually quite good and the girls enjoyed them too! Abbi even took her fingers out of her ears this time! On the drive back home, they had the Little Mermaid movie on, and we turned it up real loud and only played the songs. I then sang with them at the top of my lungs....I really do have a nice Aerial voice range! However, Sebastion's voice is a bit too low for me and the girls giggled at me.
The girls are now asleep in bed, been a VERY long evening, but a fun one. It is days like today that make all the ones I have to spend with the band and away from my girls all worth it.
We might try to paint one of their rooms tomorrow. We have had the paint for each of their rooms fro months now...but the time is another matter completely. We'll see. Pink and purple are the colors we have....purple for Abbi's room and pink for Libbi's.
My sister and her family are coming for a visit next weekend, all the way from Chicago. One more weekend of family time before the band contests start. Then my weekends are basically shot until November.
Well, it is 1 am now, and I am very tired. I just wanted to share my happy day!
